Tomorrow is the big day

I have read your stories and have been lurking around for a while. I can't believe tomorrow is the day. I am sitting at the computer in my PJs - needing to clean my house and get ready for one of the biggest days in my life. I can't believe it's been almost a year since I went to a seminar on Lap-Band surgery. Ultimately I decided Gastric Bypass was a better fit for me - and I ultimately found a surgeon who was a better fit as well. In November, I had done all my pre-testing and was mentally and physicall ready for surgery on December 12th. Well, insurance didn't agree. After many tears, much fighting, a little investment and a great lawyer, I found out the day before my birthday, about a month ago, that my denial had been overturned (earlier than my lawyer expected). I had thought I would need to wait until August - as June and July are very busy months at work. But somehow my early bithday present is allowing me to have surgery tomorrow. I can't believe it. It feels unreal. I am nervous and scared and excited and relieved. When I climb the steps, I say "Don't worry, soon your knees won't hurt." I can't wait to the summer - as hopefully some weight will have melted off of me by then. I am sorry I have been lurking - but I have appreciated your stories and inspiration. I was originally scheduled to have surgery around Christmas time. That didn't happen and Christmas was really tough. Now I will have surgery around Easter. I think this is symbolic - my rebirth so to speak. I ask for your prayers that all goes well tomorrow. And I know I will need support on the road to recovery and my new life. On a practical note, is there anything you could suggest I bring to the hospital that I might have forgotten? Or for home afterwards. Thank you so much. I can't for the worst to be over - and then the better life can begin. Ann

Dear Ann, What a wonderful decision that you made for your life one year ago. I too will have my surgery April 25 and I am celebrating this as my second birth of my resurrection. I too have been lurking and reading everything I can on lap band surgery. I am very excited for you ...tomorrow being the BIG DAY. Might I suggest that you take with you all your hopes and dreams for the furture and hold them tight in your heart and thoughts....because they will ALL come true. All the best to you...hugs Susan
