I do find it a bit sweet. I like the crystal light ruby red grapefruit, as well as the ice tea..yummy There is a generic version of crystal lite at my local tops supermarket. I don't know if you have a tops around you but try looking for the generic versions. I tend to find them less sweet.. good luck Kelly

Hi Amy, I find all the flavors of crystal light make me gag b/c they are so sweet. My taste buds have termendously changed since my initial surgery. Maybe you can try watering it down to see if you can tolerate it better. My son likes i****ered down. Good luck

Thanks Kelly and Tavia, I'll try looking for the generic version at my supermarket. I was going to try the SF Kool Aid I bought but noticed that it has a sweetner in it as well. I'm wondering if it will be the same way too. Does anyone have any recommendations for a drink mix or flavored water that they really like? I don't know for some reason my regular water isn't agreeing with me all that well. Tavia, I hope everything works out for you soon. I've read your story and I can't believe all that you have had to go through. I'm wishing you all the best! Amy Lap RNY 2/16/06

Hi again, Thanks so much Amy, really! It has been one hell of a ride for me that is for sure. I like the fruit 2 O flavored water myself, especially the apple and grape flavor! The watermelon/kiwi one is pretty gross. I have tried the SF kool-aid and think its even worse than the crystal lite, but that is just my taste buds. good luck in finding something that works for you.

Hi Amy I like the Fruit H2O drinks as well - grape & strawberry are my favs... Beyond that I buy the Kool Aid packets and sweeten it myself with Splenda... It's pretty good! I also drink a lot of iced tea (decaff) made with the tea maker machine... Give any of these a try and see if that works better for you... I never buy anything pre-sweetened cuz I had the same problems with the Crystal Light I can't even drink them now at over a year out... Try and find something you like so you can keep the fluid levels up cuz you don't wanna get dehydrated... Good luck hon! Chelle

Only thing I can suggest is the same as Tavia or Kelly suggested... dilute the Crystal light by either 1/4 or 1/2 (either add double the water or half again).. I also like the Fruit2O, there's also other flavored waters, PriceChopper carries the Adirondack ones, most of the time, varies from PC to PC. Of course, there's the Saratoga ones, but they tend to be even sweeter than the Fruit2O, there's some Propel ones as well that a bunch of places carry, even Aldi's now.. I like most of the lemon, orange ones; Apple Fruit2o as well as a number of the berry ones; haven't tried propel yet (have only seen in 4 pks). BJ's carries different 24 bottle flavor combos (4 different flavors), not sure about Sams.. Everywhere else seems to be pretty much hit and miss, storewise, except for what I mentioned above.. You can also get the sports water stuff & try those; there's a new type at some of the Walmarts (Glenville/Glenmont supercenters both, not sure about the other ones like @ Wash Ave Extension).. haven't tried it yet, might be less sweet - can't remember the name, it's a blue box. Basically comes in a tube to add to a drink bottle like either 20 oz or 16 oz (which you can either refill or get one of the polypropylene ones with a screw top at any one of the dollar stores. I will say, that getting your water in DOES make a big difference; when I was "newly" post op, I didn't, and stalled for a long time... Once I got a little better at getting water in, I started dropping again, so anything you can do to get more water in helps. Good luck - ...Nick

Super Walmart has Propel in 6 packs of 16.9 oz. each. They are awesome, not too sweet. I can't stand the cyrstal light, it is so sweet it burns my throat. Also the propel is fortified with vitamins and the mandarin orange and the mango flavored ones also have calcium in them. They come in the above mentioned and lemon, kiwi strawberry, grape, melon, black cherry, I think thats it. Shannon 257/193/130???

Hi Amy, In my local Wal Mart, they sell these individual water flavor packets that look like the crystal light to go. But it turns your water to a Propel type drink, it's just taste and clear. It's got aspartame in it(not sure how you feel about that) I don't find it too bad, but Crystal light tastes the same to me as it did pre-op. Now Starbucks coffee on the other hand..I used to hate that, now I love it...go figure-lol Kristine

Amy, Wal-Mart carries the generic version of Crystal Light. I don't care for any of the Crystal Lights, but I really like the Wal-Mart Fruit Punch version. Christine
