GHI Medically Supervised Diet.
I had a consultation with a surgeon and they told me that GHI required a 6 month medically supervised diet. I was just wondering if anyone had any good doctors or nutritionists in Queens or Nassau County. Maybe one that would be supportive of my choice to go through with this surgery. Haha, one that wouldn't mind faking a couple of months of visits would be fine too.
Thanx,

Hi Erin,
My PCP is super nice and very WLS friendly. He has ALOT of WLS patients so he knows what he is doing/talking about. I know he would be more than happy to help you. He is located right across the street from North Shore-Manhasset.
I will email you his info. Good luck!

I went with my PCP for the medically supervised diet, since I had to see her monthly anyway for med maintenance. IMO a nutritionist will really try hard to work with you [and is not covered by GHI [CBP] - well, if you have a diabetes diagnosis you get 4 visits a year] ... if you stick with your primary doc, you just have to go monthly and get weighed in and have him/her write something about what you are trying to do to diet [low fat, American Diabetes Assoc. diet, low calorie, WHATEVER]. They took my records as long as I had her weigh me every month [don't miss even one] - I couldn't even tell you what else she wrote, but I know it wasn't much. I have a nutritionist in Queens, and I think she's really nice, but she would seriously be trying to help, not just get you the documentation for the supervised diet, KWIM? Good luck! xosm
