I wasn't going to tell my mom about starting the process for surgery yet for fear of her reaction. I decided the other day to tell her....I figured I could use all the support I can get. She reacted completely opposite of what I thought she would. She was actually happy and relieved. She didn't want to bring it up since she feels it is a "personal" decision not to be influenced by someone else. Go Mom!!

That's great, Rachelle! My mother was probably my biggest supporter of my surgery. I think after watching me go up and down all these years, and struggling, she knew it would be something that could really help. Kristine

Rachelle, Nice news. I had a similar experience with my mom too. I guess it's better to be honest and find out who's really behind you. That's true in life in general!! Congrats! Amy

It is nice. And that is very true Amy. It is best to be honest. Even though we don't live together, my family is such a big part of a support team.

Hi Rachelle, I think that's cool that you Mom's right there with ya to give her support. I know I was nervous bringing it up to my Mom as well and was surprised at her reaction, too. I know I'm her only daughter and her baby and all, so I wasn't surprised that she brought up some cons, but she's there for me whatever I decide to do. So is my hubby. I love them both so much. I know they'd be nervous for me, but they also know how important this is to me. I know my brother's, sister-in-law and nieces and nephews would be supportive as well. Talk about a support group. Between my family and friends here on the board, how can anyone go wrong. I'm so glad things are going well for you. Diane
