What exactly is considered a Dr. supervised diet? I've been on an off Weigh****chers, my own diet, OTC diet pills, etc. Each time I see my Dr. (a few times a year) I am weighed in. She has years worth of documented weight loss/gain/loss/gain for me. Just wondering if that's enough.

Hi Rachelle. Most insurance companies require you have 6 moths of consecutive visits with your doctor. They require the doc put you on a diet and document your progress. You need to be weighed in each visit and counseled. It needs to be consecutive or it wont count. Good luck. LisaMarie

I just checked the requirements for my insurance and I'm scheduled for a seminar May 11 at NYU. I've been researching for a while now and I feel that this is the way to go for me. I'm 42 and I feel like 72...shouldn't be. I have my physical on Friday. At that time I will discuss the surgery with my PCP and start on my 6 month Dr. supervised diet.

I just started my "Supervised Diet" with my PCP in the Beginning of February. She basically told me to stay away from certain foods and exercise more DUH! But that's what she wrote, that's what im doing. If this helps me along the way, I am all for it. Besides, my surgeon told me at the consult last week, that surgery won't be scheduled for at least 3-6 months. So that gives me time to again, lose some weight, and hopefully, this is the last time i'll be at this weight Good Luck
