Support Group at Huntington Hospital, Huntington, NY begins 4/1/06

Dear List - I just learned that Huntington Hospital in Huntington, NY, which is on Long Island, is starting a support group for both pre and post op bariatric patients. The group is being run by Sue Degnan, who is a certified social worker who will be running the group, and a patient who is 3 years post op. I had been hoping that a group would start local to me, and this appears to be it. All the other groups on LI are kind of a trip for me, so I hope that this group will address most of my needs. If you are interested in attending, call Huntington Hospital at 631-351-2000 and ask to speak to Sue Degnan. ALSO, the Cori Group in Patchogue is meeting on the last Tuesday of this month, which is the 28th, and they are having a plastic surgeon address the group. You should call CORI centers in Patchogue and ask to speak to Barbara Solow, the nutritionist who runs the meeting, and she is also a post-op patient. Hope this has been helpful to anyone. emily- thanks for this info.....i live in huntington,3 year post op and have been searching for a local support group. interesting that you post this, because i had called the cori center in patchogue and asked if i could attend even if i didn't have my surgery there, and the person who answered the phone didn't know. i will call susan and ask about her group. thanks, donna
