This is awesome!! My turn - I'm Beth, I am 40 years old and I live in Rochester. I have been married 8 years and I have a step son whom I adore!! I have 2 dogs who are my babies (spoiled rotten!!). I am a supervisor for the operators at the local phone company. I am still pre-op, meeting with the nutritionist (Julie is the best!!)and trying to lose the 10%. Hopefully, I will have surgery sometime this summer. I enjoy my family and friends and I love to shop and redecorate my house (drives my DH nutty). These boards are awesome - it is nice to know that I am not alone. Beth - Next..........

Faceless Kenny here and I am working on getting my photos up asap! I am 8 weeks post-op tomorrow and down 44 lbs! Dr Peter Kwon did my lap band and its been great! I've been in pharmaceuticals for the past 16 years and prior to that I was a cabinet maker! I am the father of three sons ages 12/15/23 and with those 44 lbs gone I feel much younger than a 47 year old dad! I spend most of my free time at Golds Gym in Newburgh or outside mountain biking. Speaking of biking I am considering buying a new motorcycle this spring wow!!! Finally, I've been enroled at Mount Saint Mary College working towards a degree in HR, one day I'll get there! Thanks Lisa M. great idea Kenny Kenny

this is a great idea !!! i really enjoy reading everyone's bio. now about me, my name is donna i am 40 years old. my b- day is next friday so i'm practically 41. i live on long island. i work for a clothing company, were i'm a retail coordinator. pretty much i travel nyc & li merchandising my company goods. great job !!! i had an open rny 3 years, with dr rubenstein in patchogue. him and his staff are great!!!! i won't lie, the pain i felt after surgery was like nothing i've ever felt in my life, i questioned my decision to do such an extreme measure to lose weight, but hindsight it was the best decision i've ever made. i started out weighing 282 pounds at 5'7. i wore a tight size 24....i really was a size 26 but couldn't never bring myself to by the biggest size department stores carried. my goal weight was 165, but my weight seems to have settled around 140-145.i've been this weight for roughly the past 2 years. i can wear a size 6 or 8 depending on the cut. last november my doctor's office asked me to be in a bariatric calendar for his bariatric program..... i made the cut....call me miss may !!!! i'm looking forward to have ps, but will have to put it off for the time being because i might be losing my job (drama). wishing you all the best on your journey. donna

Great Idea! thanks Lisa. I'm Linda, age 54 (Jan 30). I had wls on 11-7-05 with Dr. Garber (exellent surgeon) and his assistant Dr. Holover (also excellent) at Mercy Med Ctr (need I say "excellent" as well!). Have lost 69 lbs as of today and just finished packing up more clothes. I work at a local housing authority and have been there since 11'74. I plan on retiring from there on my next birthday but could be sooner if the state retirement incentive is offered by the job. In my current position I'm a grant writer, policy developer, and general paper pusher with all sorts of work assignments. I'm the typical "go-fer" for anything that the boss needs to be done but no one else can or will do it. Where I work is very dysfunctional so getting out after 32 years will be worth it. I am single, no children; the 2nd oldest of 11 kids so I had my opportunities with babies, diapers, and all of the other niceties of motherhood while growing up. It just wasn't for me. All of my family live in the general area. I have 5 cats at this time and would like more but live in a small apartment. I love movies and anything comedic. I enjoy this OH site immensely and feel like I know quite a few people like close friends and family. Thanks for this opportunity!!! LindaM

My Name is Dwight H. Right now I love in Syracuse,Ny I'm Org. from Lockport,NY (20 min North of Niagra Falls) I have GF i'v been with for 7 years, were going to Vegus next year to get married. We have one kid 6. She had WLS back in '01, my turn coming up in less then a month now. I work for the #1 loved and Hated retailer in the world, i do Asset Protection so i do alot of walking and sometimes running everyday. I was a 2 letter Athlete in High School (Football and Track) I'v always been a big guy but i'v always been a Athlete always the first one picked for pick up games always the Capt. Thru HS my weight rocked up and down from 310 Freshmen year of football, 330 Somp (all musale), 350 Jr year (20 ponud of fat) 280 Sr. (lot to much weight, but on 40 pounds of muscel before Grad.) Hello, my name is Jamie, I am 33, happily married 9 years (but with DH 16 yrs!), a mom to 5 furbabies (meow). I had a 100cm proximal laprascopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass on 10/9/02 at Albany Medical Center in Upstate NY w/ Dr. Singh. Decided to have plastics 6/9/2004, *self pay Lower Body Lift and breast augmentation only (hey cut it off or fill it out my motto to loose skin!) didn't have terrible amount luckily 4-5# removed with LBL. www.albanyplasticsurgeons.com Dr. King was my excellent PS well versed with WLser's, I also had inner thigh liposuction 11/11/2005. I have been a psychiatric nurse for 13 years and a psychiatric Nurse Practitioner for 4 years. My starting weight was 320lbs, and I am 5'9''. I lost 45lbs between June 25th and surgery on 10/9/02. I now fluctuate between 163-173# at 3.5 yrs out. I did have a complication at 4 weeks out, I had a stricture at my Y connection, caused by my body making adhesions and scaring in that area. I had another operation on 11/10/02 to remove the adhesions and scarring, laprascopically. I am doing well now and feel great. I wanted to have WLS to have a tool to change my life. It certainly has, HEALTH was my focus, losing almost 160# was a side-effect/bonus in my mind. I am off my BP med (took 100# wt loss for that to happen) I am not perfect, (and work on not trying to be) I still battle with food issues (aka HEAD issues) but have conquered many. I eat a 'southbeach type' of food plan/lifestyle, high protein, good carbs/good fats, I do 2 protein shakes a day (PVL whey gourmet are my favs). I exercise daily THIS I have found helps me find BALANCE in my life, it certainly #1 helps me maintain my wt, but more than that it makes me feel healthy/lean/strong. The other side-effect is a stress reliever (I love my work but I too get stressed!) I am active professionally with WLS, this opportunity afforded me ability to work with others doing hundreds of preop psych consults for surgery, postop counseling, professional speaking to other health care providers (docs/Np's) re: pre/post op issues (medical/nutritional/psychological), running/participate in numerous online groups (notably moderate for GBIC, and co-own ossg addictions, ossg off track (my home base), & a few local online) and a monthly in person support group. I feel support is another key to my success; I attended my local group weekly preop 3 months and weekly postop for a yr. I still go at least quarterly (its a haul over 1 hr one way). Sharing with others and receiving from others is awesome. I believe together we can succeed, coming out of our own isolation we imposed due to this horrid disease (morbid obesity) is another key. Well I have rambled I do still feel young at the wls game, but what an awesome journey it has been! I wake up each day looking at life as a new adventure! I look forward to getting to know everyone! Great idea Lisa! Take Care, Jamie Lap RNY 10/9/02 Dr. Singh 320/163 5'9'' (lost 45# before surgery) Plastics 6/9/04 & 11/11/2005 Dr. King http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/members/profile.php?N=c1132518510 "Being happy doesn't mean everything's perfect, it just means you've decided to see beyond the imperfections!"
