Anyone from Long Island? I am Thinking of surgery...

Hi..my name is Barbara. My dad had the surgery and wants me to have it. I said I would research and go to a meeting. ANyone here want to share their stories. I would love to hear from people my age (37) and from women my age who had babies after operation. Hope to connect with some Post op Long Islanders. Oh yeah...I am 5'1' and 232 lbs. HI Lisa..thanks !! I am in Medford. My dad goes to a support group done by his doc in the Hamptons...very far. I am going next month....BUT it would be great maybe go a little closer to do my research. What time on Fridays? Where in the Library? Is it a group of WLS people? What is the meeting like? Anyway....I am mainly concerned with pregnancy after WLS and risks. It is such a big step....but I am tired of being fat and going up and down the scale. I gained 50lbs that I lost two years ago and now I feel that no matter what I do...no matter how I lose weight...it will come back on little by little. Hi Barbara, both my husband and I had the surgery performed during the summer of '04. We used Dr. Lester Cooperstone. He's out of Syosset Hospital. Has wonderful support groups. I would definately check him out.

I am 43 mother of three (2 adopted and one bilogicial kid) i had my surgery with Dr. Ahmad at Mather hospitol and went from a pre op weight of 310 to 175 in nine months. Hi Lisa I am a close neighbor, residing in Middle Island. I have just started my journey by having my first consult with Dr Brathwaite. I have so much to do and it is overwhelming. It will be nice to have someone close to my home to chat with. Trish

Trish, I had my surgery with Dr Braithwaite. On jan 3,2006. He is wonderful you will be very pleased with him. I had no promblems after the surgery very little discomfort such very nausea with all the pain meds they give you. Good Luck with everything.I am in Farmingville.
