Follow Up with Surgeon
Hello all. I had surgery on 8/10, and have been having trouble eating solids. I had a follow up with my surgeon today. He told me to go back to my gastro. and have an upper GI or scope to see if I have a stricture. He said if this is the case, it may be able to be stretched, otherwise, I may have to go in for a revision.
I have an appointment with the gastro. on April 4th. Wish me luck! Hope to see you in chat tonight. SH
Hi S H,
I had a stricture that I found out when I went to the gastroenterologist after complaining to surgeon and pcp. Surgeon suggested it may be a stricture and after an endoscopy it was determined that is was, so he dilated the esophagus/pouch connection. I needed two additional endos with dilation and it seems to be going very well as I have been able to eat solids.
Best of luck with the gastro "guy" ...the procedure is quite easy but you will need someone to drive you home and then no driving or operating any heavy machinery (
) for the rest of the day. I just went back to work and napped. If you want to ask me any questions, please do.

thanks, Linda. I had the scope before surgery, so I know what in entails. I was hoping to just be able to have the upper gi, as I really don;t want to go back to the hospital, even if it is just ambulatory. I will let you know what I find out after my appt. I love my Gastro. doc. I had to see him after surgery because I was having some severe pains and no one knew what they were. They turned out to be kidney stones, and while I was in the hospital, he came to see me...........nice guy.
Thanks again. SH
