Amy, You sing and I'll happy dance. Save that puke for post op Big congrats to you! My son was born at AMC because I was living up in Albany at the time. I loved that hospital, and if it's anything like it was almost 12 years ago, you are in good hands! Kristine

Amy: ~HEY congrats on the exciting news~ April 27th is not that far, during the next month I suggest doing a little thoughtful preparation for yourself. Maybe a pedicure or maniicure or massage. Take time to write in a journal where you are today, where you want to be in 1, 5, 10 years. List the motivating factors for your choice, and any fears you may have, or the things that you gfeel will challenge you the most. It helps to calm the mind/body and gives one great reference for the journey ahead! Now as for vomiting, no one can say what your journey will be like BUT it is incorrect to believe that everyone vomits postop, I know many people who have NEVER puked postop...I have vomited ONCE in 3.5 yrs, (A calcium citrate tab got stuck and I drank hot tea to get it up/down and it came up....) Now some people vomit reguarly...Factors such as behavioral issues (eating too much, too fast, drinking w/ food early on, taking in food that is not chewed well enough or is just not tolerated can be a factor) or a phsycial issue (stricture of stoma, which is correctable usually w/ dilation through UPPER GI....) Some people have a picky pouch, others don't....Just hard to say who u will be, but when you vomit postop it is quite different (from my 1 experience and others reports) than preop, much less trauatic, its like eggs down, eggs up w/o the stomach acid, and smaller amounts! I wish you well, start singing! Thank you Jamie. It is good to get a perspective on this surgery and be reminded that the surgery comes and goes, but the long run will be a wonderful change for me. I get so caught up in the details of the actual surgery, I tend to overlook the fact that I'm doing this for the positive results!! I've been reassured by several folks about the difference of puking post op. I guess I'll just have to wait and see how my pouch will respond. Thank you as always for all the info you've supplied me. I can't tell you how important it has been in helping me learn about this process. Hugs to you, Amy
