Hi all! I've been doing ok getting my 60-80g protein a day but I would find it easier I'm sure if I had a shake every now and then. The SlimFast shake a costing me a bit much. I don't have a credit card or checking account and can't buy things off the internet Any proteins found in stores that you find tasty. Some of what I have found in GNC made me gross out Please let me know of any I'm trying very hard to stay on track and keep healthy Dee

Dee: I feel we wlsers NEED protein shakes for LIFE, we have an altered GI tract that does not allow us to fully reap the benefits of food (malabsorbtion) so the PREDIGESTED whey shakes are a part of our suppliments FOR LIFE....I appreciate your issue w/o having a checking account or CC, is it possible to start a small checking account? Most banks offer free checking? That way you could order on the internet with paypal etc. The shakes online will cost you MUCH,MUCH less than precanned ones (and taste better in my opinion) and are better kind of protein for US! Lots less carbs usually! The best GNC probably has (and it isnt great but the best theycarry!) is designer whey http://www.designerwhey.com/ , or the flavorless anywhey (this can be used in any food or cooking/baking) to read more on that: http://www.optimumnutrition.com/anywhey/default.html Beth has been great to me, she has a business here in NY called: http://bethsproteinboutique.com/ maybe email her and ask if you can order/send a moneyorder perhaps explaining your situation? I can not guarentee anything but it is worth asking!!! Email her at: [email protected] feel free to tell her I sent you (NO I DO NOT GET KICKBACKS, she is just a great lady and has given me good service! and is only site that has samples of mY ABSOLUTE fav protein PVL whey gourmet the line has 15 falvors!!!) Or try any of the other wls protein sample sites emailing asking about payment options!: http://www.vitalady.com/ http://www.enjoyhealth.com/ http://www.wlssupplies.com/ I recommend samplse first to see what you like, Champion pure whey stack chocolate or banana are good and of course I love my PVL whey gourmet (choc, white choc, vanilla, raspberry, blueberry, orange cremesicle etc!) Dee, I did find Zero Carb Isopure Choc protein shake to be good at GNC but I do not know about the other flavors. I love to add banana or/and fresh fresh strawberries into it with a little vanilla extract...Really filling and taste good to me. best of luck to find one that you like. Debra P

Hi Dee Dee, i use a protien powder i found in Whole Foods stores. Its calles Jay Robbs . It is sweetened with a natural sweetener called stevia. It mixes nice with everything. I use it in my coffee and i make smoothies with it. I have only tried the chocolate because i love chocolate. It is the only one after trying many that i can tolerate. I wasnt drinking any shakes for a while because of this. Good luck. LisaMarie

I used to buy one called Carb Solutions (Rich Chocolate) at Walmart for $9 a can (14 oz). It was a good deal, but they stopped carrying it at Walmart, however, I know Target had it for the same price and I've seen it at Rite Aid and Shop Rite for about $11 or sometimes $12 a can. (But I got tired of it anyway.) Now I order on-line though, from www.bodybuilding.com -- they have the cheapest prices I've seen so far. (I use the Elite Whey by Dymatize now -- I get a 5 lb jug with 77 servings for $25 which is like 32 cents a serving!) Jamie had a good suggestion about emailing some of these places to see if they will accept a money order perhaps? Definitely try samples before you spend money on anything though. Good luck to you! SlimFast is too little for too much. I read the label and it just plain ol does not have enough good stuff in it for ME. You need to get really good at label reading so you can get what you are paying for. The GNC store brand - Pro Performance 100% Whey Protein chocolate tastes just like Quik to me. Also, anything you don't like of theirs, you can return. There are many excellent protein shakes [see post above]. You just have to budget it into your food budget, because protein shakes must become a way of life for you. Good luck and God bless

Hi Dee- GNC is expensive..I have not purchased any protein from them. I have tried various proteins..why in the world wuld you use slimfast? Sweetie, its not a good source of the quality protein you need. If you like to add milk or soymilk- use the Designer Whey brand - it comes in multiple vanilla flavors like praline vanilla or french vanilla ( I like the praline) they also have strawberry , choc peanut caramel (my favorite) and I also use the brand called NECTAR - these are fruit based flavors - they come in roadside lemonade, iced tea ,very berry cherry, carribbean cooler and fuzzy navel and more. I love the fuzzy navel its orange/tangerine and I mix it with Crystal Lite "sunrise organge" and its good! I also love the Carribbean cooler- its like a "lite" pina colada mix and you can taste the coconut! I mix that with some fruit based crystal light. The best thing about the NECTAR is- it blends with a spoon! They also made a "latte" version of Nectar that Im dying t try out! Oh- I bought these at the Vitaminne Shoppe, and I also recmmend you buy some nails/skin/hair vits there- to help with any hair loss. Hugs & Good Luck, Donna Hugs & good luck,

Dee, The Vitamin Shoppe has Nectar, which is about the best out there. The Lemon tea flavor is wonderful! It's about $25 for a very larger tub of it. I use to buy it from Florida, till some sweet members told me that the Vitamin Shoppe carried it! good luck, Mike
