Merry Christmas Happy Hanukkah to everyone
Hello Everyone,
I'm sorry I have to send out my Christmas letter/Card via the Internet. As most of you already know for the past few months I was on bed rest. I had disc hernia my L 1-L 5 was damage due to an accident. For months my medical doctor kept telling me it was nothing. It wasn't until the pain traveled for my back into my foot he realized their was more damage then he thought.
This past Monday I had a diskectomy on my L 4 wand L 5 lower lumber spinal area
I went under the knife in the afternoon at Mercy Medical Center. The surgery was about an hour and a half. They remove on full disk and half of the other one. When I work up I had no leg pains, just back pain from the surgery. Around 7 PM I was sitting up in bed for the first time I was able sit. Within an two hours from that I was able walk. It's been so long that I have walk a straight.
As of today I'm feeling better, I still have a lot of weakness in the back. But I'll start up PT again. I'll be good as new very soon.
This year has been a lot of learning experiences for me. Some experiences were good and some weren't so good. But in end it's all be worth wild. I met new wonderful people [over here] that have become good friends to me and reconnect with old friends whom I haven't heard from in a long time. I am truly blessed with all that has happen in my life!
I look forward to the New Year. I am very happy to be alive, to have good friends and family that loves me. And I look forward to seeing and hearing from each and everyone of you very soon.
I wish you all a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY HANUKKAH. I pray that the New Year will bring many happiness to each of you.
Hi Maria,
My husband had the very same surgery and is fully recovered after 6 months. It is amazing that they can go in, mess around with very sensitive nerves and discs, and you wake up feeling 100% better. I'm glad to hear the surgery was successful for you. Remember to pace yourself and do your P.T. and remember that body mechanics are VERY important...you can reinjure your self picking up a pencil, just as you could a piano!
Happy Healing and happy holidays!
Amy
