I just came from my surgeon I am 18 months post op. They think i may have an internal hernia or a bowel ubstruction. My surgeon was really unhelpful. I am scheduled for a GI series wed morning. However i don't think i can wait that long. THe pain is pretty bad. I am thinking of just heading to the ER. MY basic question is has anyone out there had a Bowel ubstruction or a Interbal hernia? If so what was done to decet it ? My moms GI doc mentioned exploritory surgery. So if anyone can help me please let me know. Thanks, Nicole -216

Dear Nicole, My name is Debbie -- I currently have two hernias (my 3rd & 4th). Last year I had emergency surgery to correct the 2nd one. My experience was nausea, heaving, constant bad pain in my abdomen and I couldn't stop any of it. Just when I thought I finally felt better, 5 minutes later I was back in the bathroom. If you have severe pain I would go to the ER, at least there they can check you out immediately and you don't have to wait for an appt. Also, on July 4th I woke up with severe pain and nausea again, but wasn't as constant as last years and I had blood in my stool, I went over to the ER again, and I was kept there for 4 days with either diverticulitis or colitis and was on two very strong antibiotics. I wouldn't mess around with it, because if your intestine becomes strangulated, you could have a big problem and an internal infection which I believe could be fatal. I don't mean to scare you, but if you're in doubt, go to the ER. I hope this was helpful and again I don't mean to scare you, but you don't want to have any more problems than you have to. Good luck and keep us updated. Love Debbie
