I am scheduled for surgery on September 13. My psychiatric evaluation is on the 25th of August. I am absolutely freaking out over this. Can anyone tell me what to expect? What are the parameters, will the psychologist say I can't have the surgery? I will appreciate any input. Thanks

I am no expert on it but I "passed" mine. They just want to make sure that you aren't addicted to anything, have a plan in place in case you ate for stress relief. This is what I got out of mine - BUT this is just my interrperation of what it was. I was tearing myself up about it and when I got done I kind of went wow and when I got the bill for my half I was really not thrilled that it was so lame . Ann

Thanks Ann, I apreciate your input. It is weird how this is the one part of the journey that has me in a knot.

Anytime - it had me in a twist too. I am sure that you will do just fine - they really do want us to succeed in this.

I had an hour evaluation which was more of a conversation with the Pshych. Doc. He basically wanted to know that I was aware that, if I had problems now, e.g. marriage problems, etc., that WLS was not going to cure them. He asked some family history questions, what my main reason for having the surgery is, and said things like "You are not going to wake up skinny, and you will have to work at it." He shared some stories with me, and that was it. I have seen him a couple of times since, at support group meetings, and he pretty much says the same things, and helps out with questions people have. Good luck. SH
