Hello again, I have read a ton of the profiles and read this message board and so far I have seen a few different procedures being done. I am really hoping for the Laproscopic Rny. Who determines the way they go in? I really don't want to have a cut. I have had two c-sections before and I don't really look forward to that kind of recovery. I have my first consultation next Thursday. Thank you Donna

Hi Donna I guess you and your Doctor make that decision together. My doc does not do the RNY lap, only open. I am ok with that as my stomach already is a road map.. I am sure at your consultation you can ask. Good luck and write down all your questions for the consult. Hugs Chris

Donna, I am not really sure but it seems to me that you have to pcik the surgeon and then see which ways he preforms it or pick a surgery and then see what surgeon preform that surgery. I am not 100% sure how that works, my first thing was the surgeon and when I met with him we talked about if I wanted the Lap Band or RNY. I had Dr Garber in New Hyde Park and he was awesome.... I wish you the best on your consult, remember to bring your list of questions so you don't forget what you want to ask him....~Hugs~ Happy 4th..... Debra P

I met with my surgeon and after our first consult he told me that he would prefer to do it laproscopically. Which was great because that was the way I wanted it done. I saw two different surgeons and they both said they wanted to do it lap. Dr. Ahmad and then Dr. Adaniel who actually did the surgery. ~Angel 255/222/140/118

When I decided to have the surgery and completed all research like you I wanted the Lap-RNY. I settled on Dr.Garber who by the way is phenonmenal , and when I met him , he explained both procedures to me and then we mutaully agreed to the Lap-RNY. FYI- I returned to work 3 weeks from the day of my surgery. Hope this helps
