God's plans are different than ours

On April 6, 2005, I was scheduled to have the Gastric Bypass surgery at University Hospital in Syracuse. I was to report to the hospital at 10 a.m. In the early hours of April 6, about 2 am my husband woke me from sleep having chest pain, we rushed to the hospital and he was having a heart attack. Henry (hubby) had a triple bypass in 1996. In Jan 2004 he had a slight heart attack that resulted in 3 stents being implanted. So was the same on the morning of April 6 this year. I immediately cancelled my surgery and was told that my doctor would not be able to reschedule me until September 2005. I work in an Operating Room in Syracuse and had been casually discussing my interest in the surgery with a general surgeon. I shared information with him, and he with me. We always thought we would end up together in this surgery situation. Well, we did. I am scheduled for May 9, and am asking for your prayers for my surgeon and staff. He will be proctored by another physician who has done over 200 surgeries and I have complete confidence for the surgery. I feel mentally prepared because I will be at my "home" hospital with familiar faces. I have complete confidence in my new surgeon and have researched the surgeon who will be with my doctor. My new surgeon has gone to Dr. H's medical center and done 3 cases with him there, and Dr. H, is coming here to work with my surgeon Dr. D, I will keep everyone posted on my progress and the growing need for bariatric surgeons being filled. Thank you Stephanie

Stephanie, Hun I am sorry about your hubby and I hope he is doing better now.... and I always say, things happen for a reason and who knows what might have been, God knows what he is going and we have to just trust and believe in that... Well I want to wish you luck on your surgery on the 9th...Only a week to go and it is great that you will "know" the hospital.... Take care Debra P

Stephanie - You're a neighbor (of sorts), as I'm from Fayetteville. I'm so sorry to hear about Henry - I hope he's doing better. It sounds like he's really had a time of it the past few years...hopefully they're able to help prevent further problems. I'm glad you were able to work out your surgery (I hope you both have help for when you get home!). All the best! Alison
