Testing the Waters----> STOP!

This weekend I went to a party and tested the waters a bit. I am so aggrivated with myself because I had some Dorito's, glazed walnuts and sampled some Confirmation cake. I am worried that I will become addicted to the Doritos because I now find myself craving them. How do I break this quickly established junk food addiction? I don't want to give in because I refuse to go back to where I was before on the scale. I find that I am lately craving salt and when I had the Dorito's they tasted Oh Soooo Good! How do all you post ops handle these cravings as they come along? I was doing so well up until this past week, if I was sill menstruating you would think I was PMSing. Please help before I become totally hooked. Thanks Marianne

Hi Marianne, I often have cravings for salt I was a big junk food eater before surgery. When I crave salt now I just eat soy crisps and not the whole bag they are not that high in fat and they have soy protein so even though your eating the carbs and salt your getting protein. They come in different flavors like cool ranch and bbq. They definately help me with my salt cravings. The other thing that I found were mini microwave popcorn bags the butter is 99% fat free and they are great for us cause they are mini and that also helps my salt craving. Well I hope this helps and don't beat yourself up for testing the waters it's bound to happen at some point at least you realized and now you can be prepared for the next time you have a craving. i dont know how you feel about this but when i crave salt i eat davids pumpkin seeds in the shell..... and i also eat bbq or salt and vinegar pork rinds they have no carbs in them and they are yummy.... not exacley a dorito but i havent had a dorito in 9 months and dont even miss them.... i keep beef jerky on hand pork rinds and pumpkin seeds at all times in case i am somewhere that i fall into that situation.... i also keep a case of propel in my trunk.. i never want to get caught out there... best of luck hey you should email me sometime we live so close maybe we can walk together...... Marianne, I also have tested the waters!!! But I think it's o.k. really....I look at it this way, there are things I will NEVER be able to eat again, so if I want a few dorito's I have them. Not a lot, I mean a very few 2 or 3. I know, I know how can I only eat 2 or 3? That works for me. I also keep jerky on hand and mini-bags of popcorn. Hope I helped ya!! Karry 311/197/167 goal
