Hello AMOS Family: Has anyone who has been required to follow a supervised program ever been denied for WLS because they lost weight while on it I worry that if I lose weight while on the supervised nutrition and exercise program that Aetna will deny my request for WLS. Just the thought of being denied again is driving me I see my PCP and nutritionist next week for my 2nd appointment. I should have my 3 months completed by middle of May if the accept 3 office visits or by June 16th if they want 12 weeks and then onto surgery. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. Brenda

Debra Thank you for you prayers. With all the troubles I've had, I hope the third time is the charm. I have also been keeping you in my prayers that you receive a quick approval from your insurance. It seems that if you lose weight on a supervised diet it would show them you can stick to a regimen. I see my PCP on Monday. Yes, we will have to wait and see. Hopefully, since you have completed your six months, you will get approval real soon. Do you have a date yet? Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. {{{{HUGS}}}} Brenda

Hi Brenda I spoke to my insurance company about that, what I was told was they will not denie approval if I lose weight, gain weight, or stay at the same weight I started out with....they just want to make sure you have tried all of your obtion, before have a surgery that is very risky and may cause complication.... Don't worry about that right now you just focus on getting the pre-op testing done and any thing else the insurance company required... I am sending you vibes to get approval, I hope you can feel them and here are some {{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}too..You will be in my thoughts and prayers today, tomorrow and always.... Christine

Hi Brenda, I had to lose 50 lbs and so far I have lost around 40 lbs. However, I keep going up and down and haven't gotten past the 40 lbs. in two months. So that just confirmed for me, the reason that I'm seeking to have the surgery in the first place!! I think that your doctor can write a letter also. Hugs, Dawn

Dawn Thanks for the encouragement. Does your Insurance company want you to lose? I am worried that the insurance co. will say that since I am losing, continue on with the supervised program. Heck, if I did that I would be in a place where I won't care. DEAD!! LOL My pcp already wrote a letter of medical necessity and I still have to go through 3 months of supervised because I have no documentation within the last year. Aetna wants something closer to surgery date. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. Brenda

Christine Thanks for the info. I may call and ask Aetna that same question. I have all my pre-op testing done as I was scheduled for 3/17. I will have to have the pre-admission tests done again though. The only thing they required that I didn't already do was the additional 3 months. I sure hope you vibes work. LOL I can feel them and all the love and prayers from this board. The hugs are welcome as well. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. {{{{{HUGS}}}}} Brenda
