Some People!!!!

I have to say, I have not really vented to this board but today is the day!!! My cuz just reached her 100 Lbs mark, I sent her flowers and balloons in congrats........WAY TO GO TERRIE.. AND when I told the lady asked me what to write in the card this is what I said: "Congrats on reaching your Century Mark" the flower lady said what is that and I told her, my cuz lost 100 lbs, well she was so excited and said "how did she do that", which in turn I told her about her WLS, WELL then she comes out with "Oh the easy way" WELL i went off on her!!! What is wrong with people.......I told her well I would NOT call it easy if you knew what all you have to do after having this surgery!!!! Sorry all I just had to post that in here, now I feel somewhat better..... Wow and I have not even had MINE yet, how am I going to be there.....*laughing* Take care all... Debra Peace

It kills me how people think that something quitting smoking is so hard but having major stomach surgery to lose weight is the easy way out. People like that you have to put in their place and then just walk away.

Good for you Debra!!!!!!! I am so sick and tired of people saying "OH THE EASY WAY OUT" NO!!!!!!! This is not the easy way out go and research what we have gone through and what we will for the rest of our lives and then come back and honestly say to me OH THE EASY WAY Thanks Debra Have a great day Hurray for you!!!!!!! Isn't it amazing that people who don't have a weight problem just don't have a clue what a struggle it is! how much we have to put up with in the world of "small". My whole family smokes except me ,I've never even tried it.They can't understand why i just can't lose weight. They can't quit sticking cigerettes in their faces and they think my problem is easily cured by just eat less! Unbelieveable! JM " soon to be thin among smokers!"

We just have to over look people and heir ignorance. So many people think it is the easy way out but it really is not at all. It is a life threatening surgery (people have died) and it is the last resort choice when all else has failed. Not only do we have to drastically change our eating habits, there is no cheating for us because if you eat something that we are not suppose to then you have to contend with the dumping. We have to exercise regularly to keep our skin from dropping to our knees. And there are those that fail on this plan as well. So easy way out not at all.

I tell em every chance I get that this was NOT the easy way, that (a) it is a very drastic measure wherein your insides are permanently rearranged; and (b) you will work harder than you have ever worked in your life to achieve your goal. They really have no idea that it isn't just "snip snip" and the weight goes away. Even Al Roker and Carnie Wilson have stood up and let folks hear that this is *not* a magic bullet, yet they still do not hear. And that's okay - at some point in their lives, as this procedure and the education about it becomes more widespread, perhaps even to their own families, they will learn.
