Thank you so much for the input and no, you did not scare me at all, I am very nervous about all of this but I will find a way to deal with it all and knowing that it will feel weird and hurt then I can repair myself for it....

Again, the catheter was nothing for me. They inserted it while I was anesthetized so when I woke up, it was already in place. It was a welcome thing not to have to worry about going to the bathroom. It just takes care of all that for you and you really don't even feel anything. When they removed it, it felt a momentary strangeness and then that was it.
I can't give you feedback on drains because my surgeon does not use them for lap RNYs.

The Dr. did say it would go in while I was asleep but did not know how it would feel when I woke but with all the info here it is wonderful to be able to ask something and so many people giving me their input, just great......
