4 wks post -op
Hi ladies
I am 4 wks out and I had RNY Surgery. I had difficult time with the pureed/baby food but that isnt the issue I am having. Today for lunch I had TUNA and while I was only able to eat 1 1/2 oz of it, soon after that I went straight to the bathroom. Half of the tuna in the tiolet. YES I CHEWED EVERY BITE 25 TIMES WHICH AFTER A WHILE TASTED NASTY... AND IT TOOK ME 20 MINUTES TO EAT. WHY AM I THROWING UP.. THIS IS THE 2nd TIME this happens! All i can hold down is farina, yogort, applesause and cheese wedges from laughting cow oh and mashed potatoes. things along that line. Now my tummy feels horriable and I know I will be like this all day today and all day tommorrow..

Aaaah the fabulous 4 weeks when we feel "almost normal" period. The throwing up simply means your body is either still not ready for that level or texture of food or you've overdone it to little "pouchie". Give your body time to adjust. Next time try 1 spoon full of food and wait a couple of minutes. Let everything slide and watch to see your bodies reaction. if it's ok, go in with another spoonful, but remember baby bites! I couldn't handle eggs, cheese, chicken- at 1st and it was all because the texture grossed my pouchie out. I promise you in another 2-3 weeks you'll be able to handle more food. Just give it time.
This is common and typical in many for several months as your body heals as you are swollen (after all they cut pasted and stapled the inside!)
once a pouch is angry and irritatted go back to fluids fofr a meal or a day to settle that down before trying things again. i used to puree tuna in a mini processor or the magic bullet it was like pate it helped but fish can be a more challenging thing to do. As are eggs sometimes....it is surely frustrating but part of process and doesnt last forever.
When u are throwing up fluids that is time to worry and call surgeon as you could have a stricture. Push fluids get in at least 64 ou and try a protein shake
