6 mth check up at Arnot
If I have yet to say that I love Dr. Rahman and the Arnot Team--please let me state that now because I do not know what I would have done without them.
Today was my 6 mth check up and my recovery from WLS has been text book perfect. I feel like a million bucks and I never want to take for granted all the hard work that went into getting approved for surgery and this amazing tool that has changed my life.
Dr. Rahman's eyes just lit up when he saw me and his smile went from ear to ear. He told me how amazing I looked and how I was half the person that I used to be. We did a routine exam and at the end of my appt I handed him a thank you card. I explained that I believed he saved my life (or perhaps gave it back to me) and I was forever grateful of his kindness, compassion, patience and diligence as a doctor/surgeon. He explained that he was merely doing his job that he went to college for and I began to cry--then so did he. It was just a moment of appreciation that I wanted to share with him as a former obese person who had experienced prejudice from the health care field and I truly was so thankful for his kindness and respect that he showed me at every visit.
I'm documenting this experience here so that I can share this with those of you contemplating WLS and so that I can look back at it and remember that this is a tool not to be taken for granted--every day it requires me to work hard and remain diligent to an eating, exercise and vitamin regime and I know that when properly applied--my tool will do the job it was intended to do.
Thank you for listening (reading) and allowing me to share this WOW moment with you!

Hi,
I am so glad I found someone else in the neighborhood. I live in Elmira and Dr. Rahman is also my Dr. I have not had my surg yet, it is scheduled for the May 28th. I am so excited, if they called me today and said be at the hospital tomorrow I would be.
May I please have you as a friend. I would love to talk with you online.
By the way great job on the 6 month check up.
Have a wonderful day.
Iliana

I have to agree with you about everything that you wrote about Dr. Rahman.....I didn't have him as my bariatriac surgeon, but had him do 2 of my emergency surgeries!!!
My surgeon was "Dr. Sadha" and I have to say that he was great! Professional, super polite, and very honest with you about what GBS is and how it will impact your life. I wouldn't have another doctor do WLS unless it wa Dr. Rahman.
Three weeks after my RNY, I ended up in the ER and "Dr. Sadha" wasn't on call that day. I ended up with Dr. Rahman...(didn't know what to expect, but when you are in pain....you aren't too particular who is treating you). All I can say is that Dr. Rahman was great! He diagnosed that my gallbladder was messed up and needed to come out that night....(Granted...at that point...I would have rolled myself into the OR...) but it wasn't that night...but the next morning that he did surgery.
Dr. Rahman did an excellent job! and over the next 2 1/2 weeks he kept in touch with me and I went to my appointment and was cleared to start working out with my trainer. As much as I would have loved to get in a few training sessions with my trainer, I didn't. I went to work one day (after waking up feeling like crap...) and became very sick.
My boss ended up taking me to the ER at Arnot, and guess who was on call....Dr. Rahman!!! lol. I ended up with a rather large hernia from throwing up too much and too hard. The next thing I know is that Dr. Rahman is telling me that I needed to have emergency hernia surgery....GREAT! I was ready for anything that would get rid of the pain and throwing up.
To sum it up...if you ever need emergency surgery (or just the standard Gastric Bypass) drop me a line,......I got TWO GREAT surgeons that I can personally recommend.
<<>> lol
