Medicaid and VSG..anyone in NY?

Have any of you New Yorkers had experience with trying to get the VSG with Medicaid? 

Is there an appeal process if only RNY or LapBand are approved?

My best friend just had a sleeve and she has medicaid it took about 8 months with all the pre op stuff she is doing great she had it done at lenox hill hospital

Did she have to appeal in order to get the VSG approved?  My sister has Medicaid and they are steering her toward RNY and from what I have read, VSG is not approved.  Is Lenox Hill Hospital in NYC?  She is in upstate NY if that makes a difference.

From what I understand on Medicaid, it is only the RNY and lap.  I had my surgery (RNY) done in March (Medicaid). 

Have you heard of any surgeons who do VSG in the Elmira area?
