Anyone from Western New York
Hi all. I'm new here and from Western New York. I'm looking for anyone who knows about Dr. Posner at BGH. I'm going to the seminar on Thursday and I'm anxious to get the process going. I know - it took me a long time to gain it so I should be patient, but I just want to know what to expect at the seminar and the process that follows. Should I be doing anything to prepare for this - like a special diet? Any help would be great.
hi i went to bgh but had dr hoffman. there is nothing to prepare for the seminar. they go over everything at the seminar. you do not want to start to diet till your first appt, then you will start the south beach diet. if you want you can get the book and start reading. at your first appt you will see the nurse practitioner, dietician and phycal therapist. youare therew about 3 hrs for the first appt

Thanks Sarah - how do you feel since your surgery? How much have you lost already? I've never heard of Synergy. Is that a clinic and can anyone go to the support group meetings? I just went to the seminar and it was very informative. It's a long road, but I didn't get this way overnight! Looking forward to hearing from you again.

Hi!
I'm new here too. I'm in West Seneca but I'm going with Dr. O'Malley in Rochester on the advice on my psychiatrist who had gastric bypass w/ him a couple of years ago and a good friend who had it w/ him just this September.
I'm going to the seminar on 4/29. I've been doing research on WLS for weeks now and I'd say I'm about 90% sure I want to do it. The only thing holding me back is fear of surgery I guess. I'm ready to say goodbye to unhealthy food choices. I can live on the South Beach Diet for the rest of my life if that will give me a healthy slim body and getting rid of the following: bad knees, wheezing when walking & going up stairs, sciatica, teenage daughters who are embarrased by their mother, a husband who is not so turned on by his wife anymore, not being able to tie my shoes, oh the list goes on, doesn't it.
I wish my seminar was sooner. I feel like I've just about made up my mind, so bring it on! I'm ready to go! I want to start losing the weight now!
Thanks for letting me share.
xoxo,
Katie

Hello, I am from WNY also, but a bit south, from Dunkirk. I just had my surgery with Dr. Hoffman last monday, 2/22 and went to my one week post-op appt yesterday. So far so good, lost 10 pounds since surgery, but I am felling hungry. I don't like to cook, so it has been difficult for me to prepare the food I need to be eating, but I am doing my best. Good luck to you and I will be happy to anser any questions you might have.

Thank you for replying. How do you like Dr Hoffman post-op? I am kinda dissapointed, he left me waiting on my one-week post-op. How long did it take for your first fill? I am losing but I can eat more than the 4 ounces they say I should. If I only eat 4 ounces I an very hungry again very fast, so I eat until I am full, which I say it could be about 7 ounces. By losing your weight so slowly, have you been able to avoid the sagging skin problem? That is one of my fears, I have a lot of weight to lose and I am afraid I will need total body work after I finish losing all that weight. I also want to do it slowly, but a little faster than you. How are you controlling how fast you lose the weight?
Sorry for all the questions, but I live an hour away and can't make it to the support group meetings. Keep me posted on your progress.
