Approval

I live in central ny and have MVP. I was just wondering what luck people in NY had getting the sleeve approved by their insurance company? Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have Cigna...They denied me for the Sleeve...They said it's experimental.

I was approved for the RNY

I had my consult today and they are about to become an mvp center of excellence. They told me this will give them a beeter approval rate for the sleeve. they are pretty confident I can get approved. I am going to the program at Community General.

The hospital (South Nassau Community in Long Island) that i'm having my surgery is a center of excellence. The problem was the Sleeve is not a procedure that Cigna will approve. Cigna said that there isn't enough long term evidence to judge the effectiveness of the sleeve. I tried very hard for the sleeve, my doctor applealed on my behalf and did a peer consult review with Cignas doctors. Cigna then asked for an additional letter from my primary Care Physician stating that he recommended the sleeve. Even after providing that Cigna still denied.

My doctors office said more and more insurance companies are starting to approve. Medicare starting approving 1/1/2010. Unfortunately Cigna is not one of them.

BTW...Not sure what MVP is???
