Has Anyone Had Gastric Bypass Surgery in Utica,NY?

I had Dr. Fitzer. My surgery was 04/22/09. Dr. Graber rocks also.  If I can answer any questions for you let me know.

I am worried about the first few weeks after.
How was it starting to "eat " again.
What did u have the first few weeks?

the first few wks. were the toughest for me--mostly liquids and sof foods.

Back in 2003 when I had mine done he allowed us to eat soft foods from the day after surgery. We started with pudding and jello right in the hospital. I'm not sure if he allows that now though or not. He's changed even the procedure of the actual surgery since I had mine done. He did exploratory surgery on me in 2005 because there was a kink in my iintestines-he said from the way he did the surgery. Best wishes to you!

I followed the green sheet to the letter. If it wasn't on the list I didn't have it. I know the feeling. Don't worry about "eating". Worry about healing and getting your fluids in everyday. I'm not sure what you mean by eating. If you are talking about life after week 7 it's not that bad. I got tired of the oatmeal,eggs,protien shakes. But I survived, knock on wood no complications and haven't dumped yet.

Hi! I had my surgery in Syracuse on Feb 1st. I follow the green sheet and right now I am looking forward to solid food but I sure don't have them. In Time
I have lost 21 lbs and wish for more, but i know when I get so that I can exercise more and feel myself again I will lose. I know that I want it now just like everyone else. I am glad that I had the surgery because it will make me healthier and I will be able to get around better. Good Luck

Good luck Clara!! thank you for writing.Please lets keep in touch. I am so afraid of the first few weeks post op. Is it really hard ? Are you hungry alot?  

Dr Fitzer did my revision from lapband to RNY on 9/8/9.   Let me know if you have any questions.  I highly recommend him!
