I went for the 1st consultation with Dr. Holover last week. He seemed very rushed for time. My appointment was for 9:30am. I arrived there at 9:10am, and wasn't seen until 10:20am. I was the second person to arrive that morning, yet I was the fourth one seen. The two patients that came in after me I'm guessing were for fills. Although I patiently waited all that time, towards the end of the appointment he seemed to be rushing through my questions. I say all this to say, I'm not sure of my first impression of Dr. Holover. I heard good things about him. Maybe I caught him in between emergencies.
Can Anyone else share their experiences with this surgeon?

My first consultation was with Dr. Holover and I was very happy with how it went.  I wasn't rushed.  He took his time answering all my questions.  Maybe he was just having an off day.  They are always super busy there and you always have to wait but I think they are worth it.

I met with him over two years ago to discuss the lap band procedure.  I felt very rushed and uncomfortable.  He seemed shocked afterwards when I told his office staff, I wasn't interested in going forward.  He was lurking in the background listening to the conversation.  They just assume everyone would move forward with him.... I felt like he was more of a used car salesman then a surgeon who was looking out for my best interest and healthcare.

I met with Dr. Geiss in Syosset, about a week later and it was night and day...

I would highly recommend you meet with a surgeon you are comfortable with.

I've used Dr. Garber for both my surgeries...Lap Band and then revision to RNY.  Dr. Holover has done a couple of endoscopies on me and he was also present when I had the Band surgery.  He was more attentive years ago but I still like him.  The waiting time in their office is horrible.  It's because they only see patients on Thursdays, except if you're having a procedure.  I could never understand how in the world they only see patients once a week, but that's the way it is.

Ok here is the skinny on Dr. Holover.......He is the best surgeon. He does know his stuff. Yes, he is rushed and seems a bit hyperactive.....but he is always available and does monitor your care. The staff is also excellent. Yes, I do wait in the office forever....but I am waiting for a wonderful doctor. I pick my battles. I have had a band with him in 2006 and that slipped in 2008....I had a new one but in ....Dr Holover was attentive and cared for my health. With this economy I couldn't afford the $250 fills and he filled me a couple of times for free.....telling me each time not to worry about the money.....He listens and he cares.....I would trust him with my life.....actually I did...and I wasn't disappointed.
