I went to the Binghamton Area WLS support group meeting tonight. I have only been one other time so I am quite new to this group. The group leader Teri did a cooking demonstration that was band and pouch friendly. She showed us different dishes that were low cost and and quite tasty. She was full of healthy information and tips. The stuffed sole was totally awesome. She had chicken salad, tuna salad, steak fajita, turkey burgers, marinara sauce, salsa etc.She also had samples of different Barriatric products.  I am so glad i decided to make it there tonight.

Katie if you were in NY I think it would be a blast to go to the same group meeting.
Oh  well, maybe we can get together at an OH event in the future. That would be fun.

Take Care

Her eggplant and meatball bake is totally awesome. We dont have the turkey meatballs she uses so we just use the ground turkey instead. I love her website

Tracy,
I original came across the yahoo group and joined. I later found they are also one of the groups on OH. They are small and not really affiliated with any surgical group. They do some things with the Cooperstown group. Anyway they meet every second Wednesday of the month at the same location we have our group. Their time is different. They are 5:30-6:30.  She did mention about a morning group she was going to or is having as well. We did go over in the time this past Wednesday because of the cooking demo. She has a lot of tips and info for you.Teri does laugh at herself and tells everyone to let her know if she talks too much, but I loved hearing what she has to say. There are band and rny people there.

I liked it because it was smaller and totally different feel then ours. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE our group but its nice to get different perspectives and points of view. I think her next meeting will be more routine. Decembers was canceled due to the library closing for the bad weather so she did that meeting January. November she had a psychologist (I think that what she was) come in and answer any questions  we had.

I probably wont be able to make all of them because of the earlier time but here and there is nice. My husband didn't care for it so you will have to give it a try sometime to see if you like it.
I know she mentioned the Cooperstown meeting on the 27th will have speaker talking about emotional eating and was seeing if anyone wanted to carpool there. But I'm not sure on the details.
Hope this helps
