Iron Level is 58

Last time I had my labs drawn, my iron had decreased from 63 to 58.  I'm still in the normal range, but was wondering if I would benefit from taking a supplement.  What do you think?  What are you taking if you are?

I take Bariatric Advantage Chewable Iron...Passion fruit flavor.

Make sure you don't take it with calcium - they can cancel each other out....

Best to work with health care provider on this (bariatric MD or surgeon) as iron level is ONE indice for anemia, also need o think about iron profile TIBC, ferritin (iron stores), % saturation etc as well as CBC and other vits like B12 etc.
Iron is something to not overdue can be toxic...

I do take Ferrous gluconate 300mg tabs I purchase OTC at walmart (ask pharmacy) with 500mg Vit C the iron is bottle 100 for about $5-6!!!
Be well

Wow!!  Sounds like I need to get some more labs done to really get a good picture.  I didn't get a breakdown of the iron, just the one #.  I don't think I'm at a critical level, but am trying to be proactive in my health care to be as healthy as I can, since I had this surgery to become healthier.

Thank you very much for the information Jamie.  Happy New Year!!

Tammy :-)
