Hi
I had my surgery 6+ yrs ago and have maintained (+/-15lbs. I have 2 post op children ( 5 and 4). I just found out my VitD, Ferritin and such are all horrendous. I have been bad at my vitamins and have not included myself in the WLS boards. I have lurked but think I need to get involved further. Looking forward to meeting and chatting with someother NYers...

Hey Sheryl,

Welcome back to OH.  Vitamins are REAL important for us post op.  Sometimes we get lazy and think because we look and feel good that we can let them slide.  This is not true!  Have you seen your doctor?  Who is your doctor?  What does she/he recommend?

Do you go to Support Group Meetings?  Would you like to join my group LIPO (Long Island Post Ops) we meet the 3rd Tuesday of every month at the Sayville Public Library, next scheduled meeting is on 12/15 from 6:30pm-9:00pm.

SUPPORT IS THE KEY TO CONTINUED SUCCESS WITH WLS.....I'm convinced of that!

Best of luck to you!

Welcome back to the foram Sheryl. I am 5 years Post Op. I completely understand where you're coming from with the vitamins. I became deficient in my B12 and my iron. I am now on a prescription strength iron. It is very important for us to take our vitamins. I just put my whole days worth in one of those things marked S-M-T-W-T-F-S I leave on my bathroom sink so I remember to take them everyday now. Good luck with it and I would also like to add. Congrats on on +/- 15 lbs.  Me too. I keep trying everyday to lose it but it seems to creep up and doesn't seem to lose as fast. But either way.. good luck.

And Maryellen is the leader of LIPO which is a great group or Good Sam Hospital in West Islip has support groups every Saturday morning.

~ God Bless ~
