Long time no post

Hi OH friends,
I've been off in my own nutty world and it's been a long time since I've visited OH. I hope you post ops are doing well, and all the new pre ops are learning what you need to in order to be successful.

I celebrated my three year surgiversary in the beginning of May this year. I unfortunately have been amongst the many that have had a regain--about 25 pounds--since my nadar weight loss of 130lbs. I have tried Weigh****chers, South Beach, and talking to my Clinical Nutritionist but still am struggling.

This is a particularly stressful period in my life and I'm just trying at this point, to not gain any more. I hope that when things "settle down" I will slowly be able to move towards a healthier lifestyle and lose some, if not all of the weight I regained.

Tell me what's new with you all? How's it going?

Fondly,
Amy

Hello dear friend!

Year 3 was quite challenging for myself emotionally as well. So many reach that bottom wt (and want more!) and only find themselves on the upswing again if maintenance mode is not embraced and other coping (the emotional stuff) is not addressed actively, consistently...We hear, realize and know intellectually a bounceback of 10-15% is typical/common and many say expected...despite this our brain typically ignores that and says i can lose more. The frustration of it all can lead us down a path of self sabotage OR an enlightening path of self growth and learning the challenges of just being present every day!

I am with you maintenance is the goal, it is the lesson and it is the greatest challenge. For some it comes at 6 mo out others 1 yr others 2 or 3 or 5 or 7!
No matter what it is not impossible and togehter we can conquer and win and learn and grow and thrive! Hugs
See you tomorrow eve! IT IS NOT THE EASY WAY out no matter what the honeymoon fools us into thinking! (wink)

AMY!!!!!

How are you?  What an interesting day - I logged on here for the first time in ages and saw your post!  Wow!  I can't believe it is three years for you already!  I am almost at 4 years.

I too have had a very stressful time lately and have had some weight gain, although I am trying my darndest to lose it.  Back to the gym, back to basics, trying to de-stress and hoping all of the above will help.

Hope to chat more with you soon!

Hugs - Robin

Robin,
I have given up on intentional weight loss efforts. I am finding that, as in the past, the more I try to lose, the more I gain. Sanity and maintenance are what I am aiming for.

What's going on for you?

Nice to hear from you!

help I do not understand the weight regain. How does it happen. Do you eat the wrong foods? Go off the plan? Stop excercising?
I am close to my 1 year surgiversary. i find myslef stuck between 145-150. I am still eating all the right stuff, drinking the shakes and isopures, never eat bread, pasta, muffins, cookies, rice etc
Will it happen to me. Does it happen to everyone?
See me in Jan OH page 11, 2010
I am celebrating my 3rd surgiversary today
I have maintained a 135-140 frame from 315# my highest, 200# lost, Gone Baby, Gone

Hi there,
The issues that led us to obesity never go away. The key I think, to long term success is to be open to change, to devote ourselves to learning from our experiences, and to try and practice self-forgiveness when we make mistakes. Not everybody gains weight, some gain a little, some gain a lot. Everyone thinks it either will or won't happen to them.

Don't live in fear of regain. Be proud of what you have accomplished and work your tool. I continue to do that every day and don't regret at all having this surgery. I never would have gotten to where I am without it.

Good luck,
Amy
