OMG, my OH Fam,

I'm APPROVED!!!!   I am having so many emotions going through me right now it's crazy.  First off, I would like to say, Thank you OH for all of your advice and encouragement and prayers.  Wow, I can't believe it.  Sandra, the nurse representative from my insurance company called me to congratulate me to tell me I'm approved.  That was the sweetest sound I've ever heard.  After dealing with the her on the last documentation that she needed, Sandra was just as eager to call me to tell me the great news.  Then the surgeon's office called me right after and said, "Congratulations, when would you like to have your surgery?  So here it is.

Pre-Op Paperwork:  September 15
Pre-Op Testing:  September 24
Clearance: September 28
Surgery date:  September 29, 2009

This is just so real right now.  OH Fam, make room for me, I'm on my way to the LOSER'S BENCH.

I'll keep you posted.

Peace and Blessings.

Whoa, Thank you so much everybody for your heart felt comments.  I must admit this is the best site ever.  Even though I have not met anyone personally I feel that we are so very close and we are able to voice our opinion openly and honestly.

Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Peace and Blessings.

Congrats!!  That is such awesome news!

Best advice I can give you for your hospital stay is to WALK WALK WALK.  I suggest you take a pair of loose pajama bottoms or boxer shorts for under your gown.  It makes it SO much easier to get around and get up and walk.  The boxers I took were perfect.  Hid my back side but gave me a comfortable coverage that wasn't too tight.  I got mine a few months ago as part of a costume for an 80's reunion party.  The nurses thought they were hysterical and wanted to get some themselves!

another suggestion is to make sure you are your own advocate.  I asked to stay an extra night, and they let me.  If you feel you aren't ready to go home SAY SO!  That extra night made ALL the difference in my pain level.  I'm just 4 days out and down to half a vicadin every 6 hours instead of 1 every 4.  I can already sleep flat in bed and even sleep on my side.  I know everyone is different, but seriously, I am certain the walking and extra night were the key to how great I feel right now.  It is so much easier to walk around the hospital than it is around my house, and the weather isn't cooperating for going outside....

Take care and congrats again!
