You said it hunny!!! As I was writing my post I felt so jumbled and disturbed by this occurence I couldnt even get my thoughts straight. AHHHH We have to do something. Its unfortunate that there are no groups on the weekends. LIPO is Tuesday and POSE is Thursday and many of the other support groups are during the week as well. Not everyone can make those meetings due to work, family etc. I think We need a weekend group. Heather, Maryellen, Karen, Lisa.... Lets make change... What can we do???

I would like to give my 2 cents here. I am almost 5 years post op and have been attending these meetings for about 4 years or so. I know the person that this thread is referring to. I find this entire thing complete atrocious. As has been stated already,,, this could happen to any one of us. In this group we all have many opinions. Some the same and some different. What kind of world would be living in if we all thought the same way?

I'm a little apprehensive about going back this group if this is the way the coordinators do things. No explaination was given to this individual. If the coordinators of this group have a problem with an individual then by all means take them aside and discuss it. But to ask them to leave?? Some people talk a lot, while others may have opinions that I don't necessarily agree with, but to take such actions is just ludicris.

As for talking one procedure down over another one, I myself think  it is just wrong. Unless you had both procedures done no one should be talking about any other procedure as if they are personally knowledgable on it. I usually speak in the "I" when speaking at the meetings. People should only be speaking of their own personal journey, not giving advice on procedures they haven't personally experienced.  As for people taking info given personally then my advice would be to filter info and take each piece of advice and try to understand that we are not professionals, therapists, teachers , etc. we are just people who are going on a weight loss journey the best way we can. Take our experience, knowledge, opinion as you will and just know that we are just people too. Every pre-op should educate themselves as much as possible. In the end each person has to make their own decision of which procedure to choose or if to have surgery at all.

I hope the Coordinators of this group apologize to this individual and do the right thing. Only time will tell.

~ God Bless ~
