Hi Everyone,
My Doctor is also Dr Simon I have met with him once. I got my list of pre op things to complete. i am done with everything except the sleep apnea test, that is scheduled for Friday. I go back to Dr Simon's office on 17 th of Sept, hopefully we will be applying for approval from the insurance Co. and scheduling my surgury soon after. I am not really sure how it goes. I have 2 friends I work with that had RNY last year one had Dr Simon the other had Dr Kim but they said everything seems different now. So I really do not know what to expect. All of our NNY'ers have to stick together. Have any of you been to the support groups in Watertown or Lowville, I was going to go to the Lowville meeting this month but found out it was cancelled. I am going to have to go to the Watertown group in September so i can get my 3 in but that group is very inconvient for me to go to on a regular basis. I was just wondering how they are and if anyone is still going?

I have not been to one yet. I was going to go tothe one on Aug 3rd but it was cancelled due to a room scheduling issue. The support group is held at Cooperative Extension Classroom
5274 Outer Stowe Street, Lowville, NY. The POC is Diana Carpenter 624-6398. The support group is sponsered by the surgeons out of New Hartford / St Luke's but it says anyone pre or post op is welcome. They also have a group in Utica but that is alittle to far for me to drive on a weeknight. Here is a link to the website http://www.bariatricexcellence.com/classes.html. I know the next meeting is going to be Sept 10th, they are changing the days from Monday to Thursday.

Do only RNYer's get to go or can any type of wls people go? I am pre-op but am looking into the DS.I would rather go to the one in Lowville, I am real familiar with Lowville,I lived in Watson for 20 years and just moved from there last year.I own a soft ice cream store in Lowville, maybe you have been there?Just up the road from the old Medicine Shoppe.Nice to meet you and PM me anytime!

Hi everyone,
This is in reply to the support groups. I have attended watertown and still go every month. My 3 times where filled some time ago! I also attend a few others in my area. I have gotten to know people from each of these . some are pre op and some are post op. It is a wonderful way to meet others going thru the same thing and support each other. The meeting in watertown is for rny and we have some banders there too.
My only complaint with the watertown meeting is their is alot of repeticious information given there time after time. But sometimes it is open to floor discussion and that is where the real info comes in.
My husband and I are there every month now. He had his surgery on Dec. 9, 2008. He is down 190 pounds and still loosing. So if anyone attends this meeting in september..come on over and say hello!

Are you at the one in Watertown? Pat and I have gone a couple of times, but it was pretty boring.. I hate being read to. There is one gal, Andrea, whose lost 80 pounds and is a lap-bander ... she was my inspiration (and also my vet!) but I won't be going to that group again.
My friend Lori owns Cafe Mira in Adams and there is a very nice group for both RNY and Lap-banders in Rodman. If you are interested I'll get more info!

Hi everyone I went to the group in Lowville last Thrusday and I learned alot. Everyone was very open and friendly. I am trying to talk myself into going to the group tommorrow in Watertown but I have not heard anything good about the group unfortunately. It is also so at a bad time for me because it is so far from my house to travel on a week night. Lin, I actually met your friend Lori last spring when she did my SIL's wedding. My SIL told me she had WLS but I didn't get a chance to talk to her. I would be interested in the information for the Rodman group.

I'll see what I can find out about it and get back to you!!! Try to have a good time at the one in Watertown and if there is a short lady there with grey-ish hair and in vet scrubs, that's Andrea. Tell her you know us.. she's great!!
