What I do know and I know from my own experience is.....eating healthy alone or exercise alone will not make me lose weight and keep it off in the long run. If I exercise regularly and eat healthy I am able to lose the weight and maintain it. I lost over 200lbs doing this and I have been able to maintain the weight loss for 8 1/2 years.

It is all about a Lifestyle change, not a temporary diet. We have to learn what works for us and do it!

Take care,
Ginger

If you would like to visit my blog to read the from MSN Health & Fitness "Is Exercise a Waste of Time?" Addressing the same topic and also talking about the Times article on  "Why Exercise Won't Make You Thin".  I think it has a lot of really good information.

Congrats on your weight loss and keeping it off!!!!  I'm so afraid of gaining weight after the first year.  I hear of people gaining it back and it scares me.  I've been exercising at least 3 times a week since January 09 and now it's part of my life.  For the most part, I make healthy eating choices.  What was your experience like after the first year?

Hello,

It is true that the further out you get the more you can eat and it is very easy to gain weight.  So, it is important that you keep the healthy eating and exercise habits for a life time.

Also, when you see you might be falling back into the old habits you get it under control right away.  Sometimes counseling will help and support group is a must!

Take care and good luck on your journey.
