share my experance with you, so i went to Dr. James A Sapala MD, he works out of Brookhaven hospital. 5hrs we talk. I got to talk to the nurse, Dr, Nutritionist, I made the dessision to have the micro pouch bypass sergery, i need to get blood work, a letter from the doctor, see the nutritionist, psychologist, pulmonary doctor, get cardiac clearance, I need to lose 18 pound, i need to get a upper GI, and then i need to get a EGD, I have to stop the birth control pills, 2 weeks befor sergery i need a temporary filter placed so if i get a blood clot im safe, I'm scard to get the EGD do they put you to sleep for that? I am happy i went today, But I need to find all these doctor that takes my insurance (MEDICAID) and get these things done asap, So if you live on ong island and you have medicaid and you had all these doctors can you give me names and numbers please.

I can only answer your question about the EGD....
I've had well over a dozen of them. They give you what's called conscience sedation. To you, you are asleep - you won't remember anything.
There might be a lot of commotion in the room, but once they give you the "happy juice" in your IV, you'll be out...
Just remember that you'll have to have someone pick you up. They won't let you leave alone because of the sedation...
When you wake up, the IV will probably be out and your first thought (after "where am I?) is "I got to use the bathroom!" LOL They do pump the fluids in!
