I have my last appointment with Kind'er Touch Lymphedema Center on Monday. I have gone from not being able to wear pants unless they are like Bell-bottoms...to wearing any pant size my waist will fit into. I am so happy. I have to wear compression stockings...but I am very thankful for the success that I have in my legs.

I RAN down the hall...jumping for joy...I haven't been able to do this since High School. It DOES make me mad that I could have avoided WLS and lost weight the conventional way if ONLY I KNEW about this treatment.

if YOU have lymphedema...and are in the Capitol area...please....tell your DR you need a referral to The KINDER TOUCH LYMPHEDEMA CENTER on West Ave in Saratoga Springs. It is WELL WORTH IT....seriously.

anyone wanna race? :D

I CAN GO TO A REGULAR SHOE STORE NOW.... I don't need to shop at the big and tall store for my shoes...whooooohoooooo

btw....for what it is worth...I look awesome in my suit too :D

Hi Tim - Just wanted to say I am so glad that your legs are better! I, too have lymphedema and so I know what an ordeal it is to go through.  I am happy to know that you could get help and treatments as there are not alot of people/areas that are familiar with it. Hang in there and keep up with those stockings!!
I don't feel that my having surgery would have prevented my lymphedema I still had it and suffered with it for years without my doctors recognizing what it really was) But, If anything my surgery has helped manage mine but everyone is different.  If you were like me, I, too thought I could lose my weight on my own accord and in so doing wasted 5 years just trying to stay below 400 lbs!!. Also  in that time I suffered with many bouts of cellulitis, one serious enough to  go in the hospital with .  Now, after having treatment for it if I manage my lymphedema  (wear my stockings faithfully!!!  then hopefully I will prevent any future boughts of cellulitis/etc.  I am hopeful, too that as I lose more weight I will have less symptoms/or complications from the lymphedema itself! (Got toThink positive!!)
Don't stress over/or beat yourself up over I could've I should've or if only I had known.  You made your decision to have your surgery and look how far you have come!!! It's a long and hard road for those of us who are morbidly obese.  You are doing great and you look awesome (even in your suit!! LOL!) Hang in there.  THanks for letting others also know about lymphedema and that there are treatments out there for those who suffer with it.    Mary

Glad things are better w/ the lymhedema. One comment pekeed my soapbox....Are you sure conventionally you could of lost all the wt? I just am wondering... so you feel to get to a normal BMI then the rest of the wt will come off conventionally for you? Statistics are not too promising that anyone MO or SMO will lose wt with diet/exercise/pills etc beyond 10% and keep it off over 1-2 yrs. But there is always that shot in H_LL I suppose? Be well.

no...I know that surgery was needed. I am thankful for my tool....I just have to keep myself out of the "shoulda coulda woulda" aisle. It only leads to self pity.

How are you doing? Been praying for everything to develop properly...

Tim,

You look great. Good for you. I will keep that doctor in mind, I have a cousin who is starting Lymphedema and is getting frustrated with it. I will pass that center on to him.

Keep up the good work.
