Hey I might need a little boost!
Hey whats up everyone, my name is Kaetlyn I am 20 years old and I am doing this on my own and I just need a little support, my family isnt behind me but I have sometime to build up confidence my surgery is september 29th @ Ellis and I dont know if my family will be there i hope they are but I really dont know, I am also lookin for a pen pal and such and I am new to the site also, my college professor actually gave me this site and so far I luv it!
Hi Katelyn - I'd be honored to help you how ever I can. Sounds like you need someone to hold you up.
And I have a suggestion for you - a support group. I go to one through Albany Med because that's where I had my surgery. We meet every Thursday at 5:30pm and as far as I know Ellis patients are welcome too. It's a great group of people at all stages of the process.
Feel free to PM me. As soon as I figure out how to do it I will add you as a friend.

Hi Kaetlyn,
You've come to the right place! Try to find as many support groups in your area as possible. Visit some of the OH forums and join some virtual groups found on this website. Purchase the OH magazine. Visit Borders or your local library and read as much as you can on WLS. Try to surround yourself with as many new friends in the bariatric community as possible.
Congrats for making this huge decision. It is the absolutely best gift you will ever give yourself!
Best of luck to you and don't be a stranger! Ask as many questions as you'd like, there is no stupid question!

We are here for you! Lean on us!
I also had my brother not support me, until the day he drove me out to surgery. His comments were "just eat less exercise more - look at what you've lost already on the diet they put you on" I was eating 1/2 cup of protein per meal, 3 meals a day, no snacking. He changed his tune when my body went into starvation mode and I stopped losing...
So, I know what it's like to not have family support, that what we are here for, that's what support groups are for, that's what the shrinks are there for...use us all!!!
Welcome to the board, ask ALL the questions you want. The only stupid question is the one you are afraid to ask...and you should NEVER be afraid to ask on here or in e-mails to us if you want to keep it off the board because it may seem too personal....
