How do you cope with food cravings during that time of month?
I was wondering, you know how some people have food cravings before that time of month. Well do you still have them after the surgery and if you do how do you cope with it? I dont have bad food cravings like chocolate or sweets or anything like that I just find myself alittle bit more hungry and of course my face loves to break out. So I was just curious as to how all the other ladies handle this. Thanks guys!!
I am in that stage now and when i saw the nutritionist yesterday she said it is better to not deprive yourself but to figure it in your meal plan instead. I always have to have chocolate and salt --my downfall. So she said just have a small square of chocolate and eat it very slowly just to settle your cravings. She says if you deprive yourself you will go overboard later and you do not want to go there. I am not sure what to do after surgery since i am not there yet but i guess i will move to a chocolate protein shake and see how that goes.
I really don't have 'cravings' per say, just the feeling of needing to eat more. When I get that feeling I just add tiny protein snacks between my meals. An extra peice of low fat cheese, turkey pepperoni, things like that. I've been having a hard time getting protein in anyway so I may actually be helping myself in the long run.

I am probably in the minority here, but during my TOM I let myself be completely off plan...I don't go to the gym, and because I am hungrier I eat more too. I just take it all in stride. I have heard of some people giving themselves the weekend off or something, and I just do all my weekends worth in one week I guess, lol. I have not once gained at the end of my period, so I think my body is cool with how I handle it.
I do not advocate that this is the right thing to do though...for other people who want to behave themselves, lol, I would say try keeping little protein type snacks on hand (like nuts, cheese, or jerky) so that when you get a craving you can knock it out with something healthy. For those of us who have chocolate cravings- I sometimes freeze my protein shakes and eat 'em like a water ice and that usually handles the chocolate monster!
