Okay the other day I wrote that i made up my mind and was not going to go through with the surgery...and in all honesty I think it was because I am getting cold feet and was thinking of all the bad things and not the good things. However, since the other day I have talked to a few good friends of mind and of course every single one of them said that I would be okay and that they would support me no matter what. I have on friend of mine that is pushing me to go through with it and says at least go to your PATS and learn more about the surgery and go from there. Soo....I am going to go to my PATS TOMORROW. And I will let everyone know what happens next!! Does anyone know when I will know if I pass PATS?

Denise, I am so happy!!! I will support you with whatever decision that you make. Have you still been smoking? We wouldnt be human if we weren't a little scared of surgery or change or how we will feel about ourselves. When are you PATS?

Cold feet ....... I think every one of us have or had that feeling too! All I can say is that RNY is the best decision I ever made. I would do it again 100% no doubts. I know that is easy to say now that my RYN surgery is done and I am 89 pounds lighter but I would of told you that the day after I had surgery.  The fear of having surgery for something we believe we should be able to do on our own is understandable....good luck with whatever decision you make!

Hi,

Well 89 pounds is a total. I had lost about half before sugery. Learning how and what to eat during the 6 month program did a world of good for me. I  love my RNY!!

Hi. It is a life changing experience and as with anything else there are pros and cons to consider when making the desicion. If you're not 100% sure maybe you're not ready. BUT you don't have to commit to the surgery now.  Right now y9u can commit to become as educated about it as possible.  Research as much as possible, discuss it with all of your health care providers, attend support group meetings (you'll learn the good the bad and the ugly).  Go through the process.  If you still feel it's not right for you there is no shame in that.  A lot of people start this journey many times before they actually go through with it and some people decide its not for them.  Personally it took me a few years to make my decision.  I'm very happy with my results.  I started attending support groups when I first started the process and still attend almost weekly which I believe helped me to be successful.

Best of luck to you.  What ever you decide will be the right decision for you.

I know that I will end up going through the same emotion. I have never ever had surgery in my life and it really does scare me. The what ifs are really holding me back besides the no insurance at the moment.
