Bread
I was banded on 3/3 (one day before my 50th birthday) and am feeling VERY good! Thankfully the surgery went well and I am dealing w/this funky post-surgery style of eating. I have a question for those of you in the field :-) May sound silly, but here goes: Do any of you eat bread or a derivative thereof (ie pita, flat bread, "wraps" tortillas?) I know that bread = gumming up=NOT GOODNESS, but I just figured I'd put it out there.
Appreciate you all,
Sheryl
Hi Sheryl!
Did your bariatric surgeon give you a diet or are you followed by a nutritionist?
Bread for folks may be a challenge on many levels, the gummy issue and the carb=hunger issue.
I unfortunately found I tolerate any bread out there flat, toast, sliced, pizza, dough etc it is part of my 20# regain issue as carbs=carb cravings for me. I can tolerate it and have since 2 mo out surgery RNY.
Here are some links to band diets, remember your program may vary!

Avoid foods that may block your stoma. Examples include bread, pineapple, celery, fibrous foods, and non-tender cuts of red meats. Later, as you become accustomed to your REALIZE Band, you may find that you do not have to avoid these foods.
