LAP BAND SUPPORT GROUP

LOOKING FOR A LAP BAND SUPPORT GROUP AROUND MIDDLE ISLAND, (SUFFOLK COUNTY) LONG ISLAND. HEATHER IF YOU ARE AROUND THE BOARDS I KNOW YOU TOLD ME ABOUT PLACES NEAR PATCHOGUE --ARE THEY FOR BYPASS OR LAP BANDING. THERE MAY BE A DIFFERENCE IN THOSE SUPPORT GROUPS. ANYWAY--RAMBLING--IF ANYONE KNOWS OF A SUPPORT GROUP SPECIFIC TO LAP BANDERS PLEASE POST. THANKS FOR INPUT.

Why don't you try Rachelena's support group?  its a lap band support group. The support group is in suffolk. She has the same surgeon as you do, as well. Which is pretty nice

RACHELENA AND I ARE IN CONTACT SINCE PRE SURGERY--SHE HAS NOT STARTED HER SUPPORT GROUP YET. SHE TOLD ME THERE WAS ONE IN THE MEDFORD LIBRARY--HOWEVER WHEN I WENT TO THE LIBRARY SITE, THERE IS NO MENTION OF A SUPPORT GROUP THIS MONTH. AT ANY RATE--THANKS FOR REPLYING. APPRECIATE IT MUCH!!~~~KATHY

I don't know if you are aware of this so , I will just mention to you anyway...  this past year in Nov. .... my girlfriend and I started a support group in Med-Pat library. So that also has helped me. It also helps me to stay on track, as well. ( this smiley  guy is cute, lol )

I attend an excellent support group held at the Connetquot Public Library in Bohemia every 3rd Tuesday of the month at 6:30PM.  It is called LIPO (Long-Island Post-ops) and is open to all types of weight loss surgery patients. We a have a number of lap banders who are members of the group.  Keep an eye on the NY Forum for postings about upcoming activities. The next meeting is on Tuesday, February 17.

Also, there is a great meeting held every other Saturday morning at 9:00 am (ugh!) at Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip. There are many lap-band patients who attend that meeting. As a matter o fact, yesterday's meeting was primarily lap-band issues. I know it's a bit far for you, but may be well worth the drive if you are trying to meet other banders.
