Home and question about diarrhea
Hello - I am on day six from my lap RNY and doing very well except for persistant diarrhea. I am doing full liguids with protein shakes supplemented by broth or other allowable items. I have been having diarrhea 5-6 times a day and made the change to Lactaid, with no change in bowel movements. Can anyone weigh in on whether this is normal or if I should do anything about it.

Diana,
Congratulations on your surgery! It is common to have loose stool post op, and considering that you are just on full liquids, it makes sense. But whenever you have any type of medical concern, especially so soon after surgery, you should advise your surgeon, and only take medical advice from him. We are here for moral, behavioral, and even spiritual support. Your doc has the word on anything medical, no matter how small you think it is, you should call him first.
