Leaving for my surgery in 6 1/2 hours...OMG..any words of wisdom would be great

Well, I think I am already..everything is packed..I have done mostly liquids with the exception of a few crackers to try and get rid of a wicked headache(from not eating).  I had a sitdown with my two children (Kate 4 and Ryder 3)  I really didn't get into detail, just that I would be away for a few days and that I can't wait to see them soon and we can talk on the phone often.   I am getting really nervous as we are awaiting a snow and ice storm tonight into tomorrow.  My surgery is at Albany Medical Center at 10:40 am  but we live at least an hour away, so we will be leaving very early, I need to be there by 8:45 am.  I guess I am just nervous and excited all at the same time.  I think some of my problem is that my husband is not happy with the surgery and he isn't one to discuss something that he doesn't agree with.  I feel bad, but I need to do this.. I have an extremely bad spine, pre-diabetic, high LDL, fatty liver and I am just sick of being overweight.  I want to enjoy those 2 amazing children I have and not miss a moment of their lives.  I guess I am wondering how much pain there is...I have a pretty high tolerance to pain, but just wondering.  I am so ready to start my new life and I can't imagine that I am actually going to like being called a LOSER.  can you imagine that..when in school we all die at the thought of that word and now we are all waiting for the title.  I think that is hilarious.

Anyway,  Any wishes and prayers would be greatly appreciated.  I don't really have an angel, so I will be in touch with everyone on Saturday when I get home.

Again, thank to my OH family..your truly the best !!

Cindie - First of all congratulations to you on taking such a huge step towards getting yourself healthy! You will not regret it.  I am sure you are nervous about your surgery but try not to be.  The doctors have performed so many of these surgeries and are so highly trained that I am sure you will be just fine.  It is scary but you have your husband and kids for support.  Try to remember them as you go into surgery and when you wake up, you will be on your way to your new life!!
If you haven't got it already, bring some lip balm with you to the hospital.  It will help as you will be very dry after surgery probably due to the anesthesia.
I will be praying for you and know that God will hold you in the hollow of his hand.  Best of luck to you and please let us all know how you are doing.  The OH website and people on it are wonderful and very supportive.  Take care & remember, think positive!! You will be fine.  Mary (Molly P.)

Cindy,
I am sure you are in surgery right now. I did not get on computer last night and am just reading your post now. We are getting that snow and ice stor! I hope your ride to surgery was OK. We got a snow day off from school! I am in Gansevoort and it is still sleeting! I guess more snow later!
I am sure everything will ge fine. I went to see my surgeon yesterday and he made it sound like a breeze. He said: "you will be sore for a few days then you will be just like this(pointing to me)  just as you are now". Fine.
You will have to post as soon as you get home to let us know how you are doing. I have 5 more days!
My husband hasn't said too much either way. I would not say that he is very supportive. He is thin and has never had to deal with weight issues. He also seems to think that I could have just done it with diet and exercise. YEAH RIGHT!
Hope all is well and hope to hear from you soon!

Just came home 1-11, had some small speed bumps, but essentially everything went great.  Home now relaxing with my family.  I am saying all special prayers for you.   Just keep faith and all will work out great.  Keep us updated as soon as you can.  Its a struggle of little things everyday, but it is so worth it.  I know we will all be doing fantastic.  Maybe someday all us girls up in the North Country can find a place to meet up.  I am north of Lake George, but I am always willing to travel.  Please update when you can.

God bless, you will do great.
