hi everyone, i tried this new recipe, and at 3 wks post-op, i feel like this is the only thing that i can keep down and it dosent hurt going down eaither.. so try it, but only if ur doc says ur allowed pureed/soft foods

1 lb ground turkey meat
1 small onion, diced or julliened
2-3 garlic cloves, finely chopped
either low fat butter or refined ghee
1/2 tsp canola oil
1 medium tomato chopped and peeled of skin
cilantro chopped
1 packet of LF enchilada mix
1/2 jar of LF, SF or low sugar marinara sauce, i used ragu's original, had only 7 grams of sugar and 8 grams of carb.
1/4 cup of salsa, mild or hot or reg, according to ur taste.
sea salt and black pepper
black. red or pinto beans , one can, drain well and rinse in water, then whizz in ur food precessor, ( i cant eat bean as is, gets stuck, so i whizz it)
LF mozzerella
nice good size pan

i sauteed the garlic and onion in the oil and ghee untill it was almost mushed to nothing, set that aside,
brown the meat in an oil free pan untill all pink is gone.  then whizz in ur food processor. ****il fairly crumble less)
start sauteeing the onion and garlic again then add sea salt and black peper to taste. add the chopped tomatoes. and the beans
make sure you sautee the tomatoes well.
add the meat and cook that up until it is brown,.
then add the ragu sauce , the enchilda mix and the salsa
cook that up until its bubbling, then put the fire to low and let simmer for 20 minutes.
at the end add LF mozzerella and the cilantro

all in all with teh cheese and beans i think i made up to 30 grams of protein. ans whizzin it before hand, makes for easy eatting and going down the chute. lol
happy eating

Ya know what, if this is one of the only things that works for you & you can keep it down then go for it!! The ground turkey has lots of protein & right now it seems to be a problem for you getting in that protein so stick with what works. It will get boring but getting in your protein is the most important thing next to staying hydrated!! Do what works for you!

I used to take the ground turkey & brown it up with onion, garlic, black pepper & poultry seasoning - whiz it in the food processor once or twice to break it down more, mix it with fat free beef gravy (I hate the canned turkey gravy - watch the sodium though - I found a brand that wasn't too bad & i didn't use tons of it anyway) & add some veggies (green beans cooked really well) & it tasted similar to my mom's version of shepards pie. Sometimes I'd eat it with a tablespoon of mashed potates. It worked to get me through to the next stage. After I moved top the next stage I made the shepards pie & it worked well. I even tried some stuffed peppers - lots of veggies - no carbs & that was good too!! I didn't eat ground beef for quite a while... still don't!! I prefer the turkey!

Try mixing it with some spaghetti sauce, ricotta cheese, mozz & parm & heat it until the cheeses melt... mock lasagna. I even browned up some  italian turkeysausage too & mix it into the turkey mixture!! (take it out of the casing) It doesn't have that heavy feeling real pork italian sausage does!! I still can't eat more than one bite of the "real" sausage!!

Try to stick with these things that work for you. If they said it's ok then it's better to have food than rely on drinks/shakes for your protein. Good luck!!!
