Off Surgical Topic. Urgent Apartment Help from Peeps from Manhattan & Bronx.

I had to make a

The neighborhoods I like & want to reside are ABOVE 125th Street to the end of Inwood in Manhattan. And the Marble Hill-Spuyten Duyville-Riverdale-Botanical Gardens area of the Bronx. No brokers pls I cannot afford the outrageous fees and no I don't have 40 times the months rent on hand [that's what these agencies always request to see proof of]. It's unfair & criminal in this city.
I'm a widow, no kids, no pets, have artwork that must go with me, I'm a quiet/ private person, & have no family in this state. Thanks for your help if it gets me a place. If you can come with me that'd be great too. I could use new and real friends through this crisis.

Thanks a bunch,
Jennifer
Hi Jennifer,
I actually just got an apartment with no broker fee and I was looking in those neighborhoods. I would suggest contacting management companies directly. You can find a link to a list of them here: http://www.columbia.edu/cu/ire/ocha/links.html#lmc
The ones that I can recommend checking out are Goldfarb Properties and Tyrax (sp?). I went through Lemle Wolff but they will insist on seeing that you make 40x the monthly rent per year. Also if you're willing to move into a share I would suggest checking that section out on CL.
I hope this helps.
