Promised an update to all of you.... Went to 'cuse yesterday hoping to find out if they accepted me as a surgical candidate.  My appointment was schedule with the NP.  Doc  wasn't there.  There was no notation of his decision in my records.  There wasn't even documentation of the diet he put me on.  (20 teaspoons of food per meal, 3 meals a day, no snacking). Well, in 5 weeks, I've lost 35 pounds!  5 more and I'll hit 10%, while the practice only requires 5%. The NP felt so bad because of I was starving myself and because there were no answers for me, she made the visit no charge, and made an appointment for me for next week (He's only in one day a week).   She told me to eat more.  I told her I'll stay on this until doc says stop or he says he will/won't do surgery. I want to prove to doc that I have and will listen to everything he says. So, my wait continues....until next week.  I have appoint with him in 'cuse Tuesday, and an appointment in Albany with Dr. Singh on Thursday! LOL  I'm also getting paperwork together to send to the Cleveland clinic.  I will NOT give up, I will not be beaten. So, for all those who are stressing because they have to wait for approval.  Trying doing what I have - every test is done - including psych eval...and I can't find someone willing to do the actual surgery!   This journey is over 2 years long for me...A week is insignificant now....

What a fabulous attitude you have, and I'm sure it will show right through when you see the doc next week!  Great job on the 35 lbs...I hope your taking a good vitamin! Keep us posted.

Don your doing great.  I hold Dr. Cunningham in very high regard and believe that if anyone can do your surgery, he will be the one.  He's a great surgeon and if you knew the people at the hospital they would tell you also.  I happen to know a few of the people who work on the surgical unit and they think very highly of him also.  Most people who go through his program do not know if he'll do the surgery or not for 3 to 4 months.  I was told this in the beginning before I was accepted.  Be a little more patient and I'm sure that everything will work out for you in the end.  Good luck on Tuesday. Don,

I hope all goes well for you on Tuesday.  I am sure you will do very well in the long run.  It is difficult to stick to such a strict diet and to have lost 35 pounds is an amazing achievement.  It really shows your determination to loose weight.  This determination to become healthy will have a major impact on your long term success.

Keep up the incredible work!

Jim
