Missing my old "friend".....
Hello all,
I am having problems at this point (six months out) with obsessing over food and missing my "friend". I am down 97lbs with about 65ish more to go and have been at a stall this month because of not doing what I am supposed to be doing and just eating too many carbs. I spoke to Dr. Garber's office and they recommended that I speak to someone. Does anyone know of a counselor/psychologist who specializes in food issues in the western suffolk area? I know what I need to do but it's just so hard to actually do it. I do appreciate all responses. Thank you,
You are experiencing what we have all felt at some point in time. I'm so happy to hear that you are pursuing the support of a therapist. While I don't know of anyone personally in that area, I do recommend that you get a list of participating therapists from your insurance and then run that by Dr Garber's office. They probably have a bunch of therapists that they refer to who have expertise in this field.
Keep the faith and congrats on all of your success. Just another stumbling block on the road of recovery. You'll do great.
Hugs,
Amy
