Bridget- I am so happy for you.  I am Bridgit Also from NY.  I am having my surgery 2/11/08.  I am so very excited too.  I would say try not to eat stuff your not supposed to.  I feel likwethe last week before my surgery I am eating all stuff I feel like I will never eat again.  That is not a good thing.  i have gained bacl 2 pounds that I lost, BUT That is OK  I lost alot more than dr asked for so I am not worried about that BUT I do not likethe thought of gaining any weight.......So any way good luck.  Bridgit

CONGRATS!!!  It is so exciting and sometimes anxious.  Just remember to get your house ready before you go.  Have about 5 days of supplies ready also.   Rosemary

First off. take a deep breath... exhale... feel better? Congrats!!! This time will fly & before you know it you will be in the OR!!!  I don't have a lot of suggestions of what to do but what worked for me was to get things ready around the house. I live alone so I don't have anyone to rely on to do laundry & stuff like that without calling in favors & I hate asking for help!! I made sure all of the house was really clean & the laundry was up-to-date so I wouldn't have to worry about any of it while I was recovering.  Get everything together that you'll need when you come home... vitamins, broths, s/f popsicles, pudding & jello, soft foods etc. Granted you'll probably be drinking liquids only for the first week but some people were allowed popsicles & jello. If you have pets make sure arrangements are made for their care. Ya know, that kind of stuff! The only things I brought to the hospital with me were my chapstick, crossword puzzle book (which I only used once) & my own toothbrush & toothpaste - they give you all that stuff there (grooming/cleansing products) but I like my own toothpaste!! Oh yeah - you can bring non-skid slippers & maybe a robe if you don't want to use their warm fuzzy sock-things & if you want to be covered up more. I did bring a robe with me & I used it when I was taking laps around the nursing station!! I brought a "pretty" one as one of the nurses called it... it made me feel better - everything there is so drab!! When you go in for surgery wear comfy loose-fitting clothes - I wore the same ones home (minus the bra - it irratates the top insicion). Make sure you have slip on shoes or something easy to get on by yourslef without bending over or you'll be waiting for someone to help you! I am sure there are lots of other ideas out there too but most of jall ust relax - everything is going to be just fine!!! Good Luck!!
