Weight Loss Failure!
Hey Kenny!
Welcome back, hon. I hear ya on the working out! I've been the CURVES a handful of times in near 8 months (OOOOH, tomorrow is 8 months for me! Weeeeeeeeeeeeee!) I tell myself all the time I will get there 2 - 3 times a week.
I have gained a few pounds over the holidays. I have confidence I will lose it. I know now that you're back here you can come here for support and we'll keep ya honest and on track. That's what I love most about this OH Family...the l
ve and sincere support we can provide each other. Glad to see ya...add me if ya need to chat...
Keep your chin up! xo

Kenny... How on earth can you call yourself a failure? You get up everyday and face the world head on. Sorry but in my eyes, that's nothing but a sucess... Let's not forget the big picture.. 2 years later you're still over 45 lbs less... 50 lbs is a piece of cake (or lots of cake.. but we won't go there.. LOL)Now you do realize.. you need to do something about that gym issue. No one will go to a gym 50 minutes away..
Hope to see you often here cause I'm a newbie.. :)
Thank you to all the wonderful responses! Here are a few issues!
The woman that was responsible for running my support group is the same woman that did my evaluation to the tune of $400 She was inspirational and helpful, however she decided to do private therapy for my ex wife ans I was soooooooooooooo disappointed!
This was a direct conflict of intrests! Yes I did complain to my Dr. and he offered little help! Any way I no longer live in that area! I am in Rockland county and without a support group.
As far as the gym I had no problem closing my account, I was there for 8 years! I loved working out!
My job has a gym that I plan to use when I am ready!
My isue is simple, I don't care! I have been sucking down Friendlies ice cream sometimes on a daily basis! I am sinking fast and can't seem to get a hold on it?
The pounds are growing and I wish I never hap the band! I shoul have went with the gastric bypass!
With the band I can eat anything!
IT SUX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can really understand where you are coming from. But it doesn't make sense to punish yourself because things beyond your control are happening around you.
They say when you want to kick a habit to replace it with another habit. So when you want to treat yourself to something that is not healthy have a plan to substitute that craving with something else. A hobby or call a friend or send an email, exercise or whatever you can think of.
Now, I have to follow my own advice.
I have been researching lap band surgery because after many years of yo yo dieting, I can't seem to lose weight anymore. It is sneaking up and my health is starting to suffer. Have a wonderful family (even if my slim husband sometimes is a challenge) and so much to be happy about. Don't know why I should be having so much trouble controlling myself.
Now that I see it is possible to have this surgery and still run into the same problems, perhaps I should just keep up the fight without surgery.
Somebody, tell me why it is better to ask a surgeon to fix me when I can't fix myself.
Hi Jennifer,
Like most of us, you have probably fallen into the yo yo trap far too many times for you to recall. Weather you have lap band or RNY you will always have to be mindful of making better choices, however, the difference (for me) is that I now know that I have the "tool" to work it if I choose. The tool in place gives you the power to control your hunger more, fill up faster and be satisfied with small portions. As you detox your body in the first year, your taste for certain foods will change and no longer be as appetizing for you. This makes a huge difference in our long term recovery from this overeating addiction. I did not choose the lap band because even though it is less risky, it can be cheated and therefore, you can gain the weight back alot easier. With RNY you may (or may not) experience "dumping syndrome" which will not allow you to tolerate high fat or sugary foods. I needed this deterrent in my life for if there was a way to cheat any diet, I would DO just that. You know the cycle....you diet for a while and then...one day your favorite food comes along and you dive right in. Thus begins the cycle in the opposite direction. Perhaps you should consider the RNY vs. the lapband for long term success. Many lapbanders eventually have the RNY to further their success. It's a tough and individual decision only you can make but you are in good hands with Dr. Ahmad. Good luck.
